1．honest /’ɒnɪst/ adj． 诚实的;正直的
教材原句：They should also be honest． 他们还应该诚实。
常见用法：honest 作形容词，意为“诚实的；正直的”，在句中可作定语或表语。其前有不
定冠词时，应该用an。它的反义词为dishonest，意为“不诚实的”。
◦ All this proved him to be an honest man． 这一切都证明了他是一个诚实的人。
◦ —How did you find Peter Gray? 你觉得彼得·格雷这个人怎么样？
—I found him dishonest． 我觉得他不诚实。

Note: hour、honest、honour 等单词的拼写虽然以辅音字母h 开头，但其发音却以元音音

2．truth /tru:θ/ n． 事实

常见用法：truth 是名词，意为“事实；真相”，其对应的形容词是true，意为“真实的；真的”。
常用短语：tell the truth 意为“说实话”。
◦ We’ll never know the truth behind what happened． 我们永远不会知道所发生之事背后
的真相。
◦ It’s better to tell the truth． 最好说实话。
易混辨析：true 和 real 的用法区别
