Jessica is happy that the buyers are another young family, with two daughters. She’s told the younger parents about me. I’m special. I’m a 250-year-old American tree, and I’ve watched kids play out here since the house was built near me in 1923. Starting in 1930, an illness killed all my cousins on this street—and in most of America. But I was lucky to be all right. I grow very well. The grass under me will never grow because of my shade. Jessica and her husband had to take away a nearby underground oil tank (箱) so as not to hurt my roots (根).

I like the new family. The mother loves to enjoy me through the window. I’ve met the new children. One of them, Pam, will grow to love trees. In a few years, she will sit under me when she needs someone to understand her. She’ll tell her parents she wants to live in the tree house.

Music helps us exercise. Why does it have this effect? ____21____ The first is simple: Music distracts (使分心) us. When we listen to a song we like, our brains pay attention to the music. Our body might be tired after we exercise for 20 minutes. But we may not feel this at once because we are listening to music. ____22____

Music also cheers us up. When we hear dance music, for example, we naturally start to move to the beat. ____23____ This gives us energy and helps us exercise longer. Music with a quick beat is good for exercising. “But the music shouldn’t be too fast.” says sports scientist Fritz. In a study, Fritz put 61 people in small groups. One time, each group did sports while listening to music for six minutes. Another time they exercised for six minutes. In the end, 53 of the 61 people said the same thing: ____24____ When we exercise and make music with other people, doing sports seems to be easier.

____25____ “Maybe people did better on the special machines because they had more control,” he says. People created the beat. They could make it go faster or slower. Also, the activity was social. Each group was making music together and having fun. Fritz believes that Jymmin exercise may have other advantages, too. He wants to find out if it can help with more serious problems in mind.

根据短文内容,从选项中选出能填入文中空白处的最佳选项,其中一项为多余选项。

A. A cheerful song makes us feel happier.

B. We can exercise a little longer.

C. How does Fritz explain this?
