China has successfully tested its first liquid hydrogen-powered electric unmanned aircraft (液氢动力电动无人机), known as an eVTOL, in Baoji city, Shanxi Province. This marks a big step forward in using liquid hydrogen for business purposes and encouraging the low-altitude economy (低空经济).
The eVTOL was created by a team of companies, including Shanxi Tongchen Heguang Cryogenic Technology Co Ltd, Dreamfly Technology Co Ltd and Qing Power Technology Co Ltd. It can fly for 4 to 5 hours on a single fill of liquid hydrogen, traveling 800 to 1,000 kilometers at an average speed of 240 kilometers per hour.
Li Yongxin, chief engineer of Shaanxi Tongchen Heguang Cryogenic Technology Co, explained that liquid hydrogen is much better than traditional fuels and lithium (锂) batteries. It’s a clean energy that doesn’t pollute and it works well even in very cold temperatures, unlike lithium batteries which lose a lot of energy in the cold. Liquid hydrogen also allows for much longer flights.
This successful test shows that liquid hydrogen can be used effectively in real-world situations, which could lead to its wider use. Li also mentioned that liquid hydrogen-powered eVTOLs could be used in many areas like firefighting, transport, and farming tasks such as watering, planting, and picking fruit.
China’s low-altitude economy is growing fast. The Civil Aviation Administration of China predicts that the market will grow from 500 billion yuan in 2023 to 1.5 trillion yuan by 2025, and could reach 3.5 trillion yuan by 2035, according to Xinhua News Agency.
31.What is the importance of testing the liquid hydrogen-powered eVTOL?
A.It helps the growth of the low-altitude economy.
B.It develops traditional fuel-powered aircraft.
C.It shows how lithium batteries can be used in aircraft.
D.It takes the place of all the passenger aircraft.
32.What is the purpose of paragraph 2?
A.To tell us about the companies that made the eVTOL.
B.To show how safe the eVTOL is when using liquid hydrogen.
C.To talk about how well the eVTOL can perform.
D.To compare the eVTOL with other flying machines.
33.How many advantages of liquid hydrogen are mentioned in paragraph 3?
A.Two. B.Three. C.Four. D.Five.
34.What does paragraph 4 tell us?
A.How successful the test is. B.How people use the eVTOLs.
C.Where Li Yongxin works. D.How widely the eVTOLs are used.
35.What is the text mainly about?
A.The advantages of traditional fuels.
B.The ways of creating liquid hydrogen-powered eVTOLs.
C.The difficulties of using lithium batteries in cold weather.
D.The future of liquid hydrogen in China’s low-altitude economy.

①Green is the color of nature and the symbol of life. For thousands of years, humans have followed the laws of nature to live in harmony (和谐) with nature.
②That has been seen in ancient Chinese houses. Ancient Chinese often built their homes at the foot of the mountain with a river running nearby. The mountains could stop the cold wind from the north and the river provided water for life. Most houses were also built facing south or west so that the rooms were able to get enough sunshine in winter and keep cool in summer.
③In modern times, humans didn’t follow the laws of nature during fast development. Luckily, it’s never too late to make changes.
④Green development is the goal of all countries. On April 23, 2016, China signed the Paris Agreement on climate change, giving a strong push to the international efforts against global (全球的) warming.
⑤Also in China, the government added green development to the country’s work plans. From 1999 to the end of 2018, by carrying out Mother River Protection Operation, China raised 600 mil-lion yuan to build over 5, 700 green projects.
⑥Denmark (丹麦) is a leading country in wind and solar technologies. This year Denmark has started the “Power-to-X” plan, providing about 1.25 billion kroner (about 1.27 billion yuan) for projects producing hydrogen (氢气).
⑦Builders across the world are also playing a role in green development. In Chicago, pressed newspapers, recycled glass and plastic are used on buildings. In Bali, the green school is made from bamboo. The school gets its electricity from solar panels (太阳能电池板) , water power and a generator that burns farm waste.
