On an early April evening, after walking more than 15 kilometers in Nanjing,I rode a bicycle along a road beside the Zhonghua Gate. After thinking for a while in front of the Zhonghua Gate,I decided not to pay that much to watch the light show.As I turned around,I saw a beautiful park beside a river.
I took a walk by the river and discovered from the map that it is the famous Qinhuai River-Nanjing’s”mother river”.The map also showed me that I was close to Laomendong,a historical and cultural area.
Each street has its own history. Gutong Alley (小巷) is one of the main streets.During the Ming Dynasty, this area was home to barrel (桶) makers working for. Shen Wansan, the richest man in Jiangnan.Their skills turned the alley into a center for learning and doing business, giving it its name.I walked through Gutong Alley. It was quiet and relaxing.
The 39 th China Qinhuai Lantern Festival was still in progress.Beautiful lanterns lit up different corners. There were several cats at the foot of the wall,so I went over to greet them before heading to a street called Santiaoying. With a large golden snake lantern, the street made me want to explore it.To my surprise,I found a museum in Jiezi Garden.Unluckily,it was closed.I had to search online to learn more about it.

We often say that we should”live in the moment”, enjoying what we are doing right now-perhaps by looking at the world around us or focusing on just one thing at a time. However, it’s very easy to spend time thinking about the future.Experts say that this can be good for us, too – especially when we’re thinking about the holidays we’d like to take!
Long before you pack your bags, get on a plane or put your feet in the sea, thinking about your holiday can have a good effect on your mind.Expert Matthew Killingsworth did research on this subject. “We spend a lot of our mental lives living in the future,” he said.
Looking to the future can make us happy if we know that good things are coming. As Killingsworth said,”Travel is an especially good thing to look forward to.”He says that we can start enjoying a trip as soon as we start planning it.We know that vacations are short,so we enjoy every moment of them, even before they start.
Even if you don’t have a holiday coming up, searching online for places to visit and things to see can make you happy.Picturing your future trip will make you look forward to all the fun you’re going to have.
