Mount Qomolangma is the world’s highest mountain. It is between Nepal and China and it is 8,848.86 metres high. Climbing Qomolangma isn’t easy. It’s a long and dangerous trip with ice and snow. It’s hard to breathe in the thin air.

People first tried climbing Qomolangma in 1921 but didn’t make it to the top. In 1949, Nepal opened its borders (边境). Climbers then tried to climb it, working with Sherpas (夏尔巴人) there. They live close to the mountains and are used to the environment.

On May 29,1953, Edmund Hillary from New Zealand and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay got to the top! They were the first. They stayed for only 15 minutes before going down and became very famous after that.

Since then, many others have climbed to the top. In 1960, Chinese climbers reached the top. In 1963, an American named Jim Whittaker did it too. In 1975, Junko Tabei from Japan was the first woman to make it.

One man has done it more times than anyone else. He is Kami Rita. Last year, he reached the top for the 28th time!

In 2023, there was a big activity in Nepal. The sons of Hillary and Norgay showed up. Peter Hillary remembered his dad’s big success. “It was not just Hillary and Norgay who reached the top,” he said. “It was a win for all humans. All of us could go.” Then who will be the next?

Many kids have difficulty keeping quiet or talking in a real way when they have video chats with their families who live far away. They might not enjoy watching videos or reading books either. But now, there’s a storytelling app that helps tell stories in a fun way.

Many family members don’t live in the same place. Chatm is a new app for these family members to stay in touch. Through Chatm, users can join the storytelling activity. “In order to make our kids have the talks with the family members, we need to make the talks interesting,” Dawson, the CEO of Chatm, said.

The Chatm app lets you choose a story and then it gives you advice and adds special effects to make the story exciting. Once you’ve recorded the story you read, you can send it to your little family member. You can do this anytime you want, which is very easy and helpful.

One user, Mike, used Chatm when he was away for work. He turned himself into a fun frog to get his five-year-old daughter’s attention on the phone. She didn’t like talking on the phone, but now she and her father like reading stories together every night using Chatm.

Chatm is a useful tool and any grandparent can learn to use it easily and quickly. “They usually have little understanding of technology,” said Dawson. “But many grandparents are using Chatm to have a talk with their grandchildren.”

27. How did the writer introduce the topic?

A. By telling stories.                                              B. By showing results.
