On December 2025 15th , China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shared some great news. Two new car models—made by Chinese companies and with Level 3 (L3) self-driving technology—can now be driven on roads. This is an important step for China’s smart car industry. It brings the country closer to a time when self-driving cars are part of daily travel.

What is L3 self-driving? It’s also called “conditional automation.” This means the car can do most driving jobs in certain cases. On highways or busy city roads, the car can drive alone. It can handle stirring (转向), speed up, slow down, and even avoiding small obstacles(障碍物) in the way. The driver doesn’t have to watch the road every second. But they must be ready to take over. For example, if an animal suddenly runs across the road, the car will warn the driver. Then the driver has 10 seconds to get back in control.

This permission is a big milestone (里程碑)  for using self-driving technology in business in China. Before this, most smart cars sold had Level 2 (L2) driving help systems. These systems could only give basic support. For example, they can warn the driver if the car starts to move out of its lane, or stop the car by itself to avoid crashes(碰撞). But the driver still had to control the car at all times. Now, L3 cars can take full control in specific places. This means China has officially started business tests of “conditional self-driving.” It also shows that China’s smart car technology is now among the best in the world.

Experts say L3 technology can make driving safer, because most car accidents are caused by human mistakes. But we need to remember: L3 is not “full self-driving.” The driver must always be ready to take control! As the technology gets better, self-driving cars might one day make our trips easier and safer, changing the way people travel in the future.

5.What does “conditional automation” mean according to the passage?

A. The car can drive by itself completely without any driver’s participation

B. The car can drive automatically under special conditions

C. The car can handle most driving jobs but the driver needs to be ready to take over

D. The car can only provide basic driving help and the driver must control it all the time

6. What is the writer’s attitude towards the permission of L3 autonomous cars ?

A. Doubtful           B. Critical           C. Supportive        D. Neutral

7.What is the main idea of the third paragraph?

A. To explain the difference between L2 and L3 technology.

B. To introduce about the basic uses of L2 driving assistance systems.

C. To announce that China’s smart car technology is the best in the world

D. To describe the process of business use for self – driving cars.

8.What is the main purpose of this passage?

A. To explain how L3 self-driving technology works in detail

B. To introduce China’s approval of L3 cars and its importance

C. To compare the differences between L2 and L3 technologies

D. To predict the future of China’s smart car industry

C

A father was very worried about his son, who, at 15 or 16 years old, seemed to show no signs of courage even in the face of small challenges. One day, when the son was bullied (欺凌) by a few older kids at school, he was really scared and didn’t stand up for himself, which made the father even more worried. So, the father went to see a famous boxing coach and asked him to help his son build courage. The coach agreed and said, “Leave your son with me. In three months, I promise he will be a changed person. However, you must not visit him during this time.” The father agreed and left.

Three months later, the father returned to pick up his son as promised. The coach set up a friendly match between the boy and an experienced boxer to show the training results. As soon as the match began, the boy was knocked down hard. But to everyone’s surprise, he quickly got up and faced his opponent (对手) again. He was knocked down again right away, but jumped back to his feet immediately. This happened again and again. The boy was knocked down 16 times, yet each time he stood up, determined to face the challenge.

The coach turned to the father and asked, “Do you think your son’s performance shows courage?” The father sighed and replied, “Coach, I never expected that after three months of training, he would still be knocked down so easily. I was just hoping to see him change a little.”

The coach shook his head and said, “It’s a pity that you see it that way. You’re missing the point. You only see the falls, the superficial (表面上的) winning or losing. Don’t you see the courage of your son to get up each time? That’s true strength. A strong person isn’t someone who never falls, but someone who rises every time they do. That’s true courage.”

9. Why did the father want his son to learn boxing?

A. To train him to be braver.                B. To help him win the games.

A. c-a-b-d-e        B. c-a-d-e-b              C. a-c-b-d-e              D. a-c-d-e-b

12. What lesson can we learn from the passage?

A. Where there is a will, there is a way. B. Little by little, the bird builds its nest.

C. All things are difficult before they are easy.      D. True courage lies in rising every time we fall.

①China is working on a big plan to put a wireless network (无线网) on the moon. This is part of its space exploration (探索) program. After Chang’e 6 finishes its mission (任务), two more spacecraft will be sent to get ready for the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS). Chang’e 7 is set to go in 2026, and Chang’e 8 will follow around 2029.

②A space official from China, Bian Zhigang, said that Chang’e 7 will look at the environment and resources (资源) near the moon’s South Pole. Then, Chang’e 8 will try out ways to use the moon’s resources. This will help them get ready for building the ILRS, which they hope to start using by 2035.

③Two steps will be required to build the ILRS. First, people will make a simple model at the moon’s South Pole. It will be able to do science work in an area within 100 kilometers. They will use a network that connects the Earth and the moon for different missions, like sending robots to explore the moon and astronauts landing on the moon. This will create a research platform with basic functions.

④The second step is to make the station better by 2050. They want to build a network of lunar stations that will have a main station at the South Pole and other stations at the equator and the far side of the moon. This will provide people with a large research platform for long-term robot missions and short-term human missions.

⑤Guo Feng, another space official, said that Chang’e 8 will make sure there is a way to communicate and have power on the moon. Scientists are also thinking about if they can grow plants on the moon. This might be part of the scientific research for Chang’e 8.

⑥Since 2017, many countries and groups have agreed to work with China on this project. More than 10 countries and over 40 international organizations have signed agreements with China, showing that many people around the world are interested in exploring the moon together.

13. Which two spacecraft are mentioned as part of the preparation for the ILRS?

A. Chang’e 5 and Chang’e 6.                 B. Chang’e 7 and Chang’e 8.

C. Tianwen 1 and Tianwen 2.                 D. Shenzhou 13 and Shenzhou 14.

14. How does the writer show China’s important lunar exploration steps?

A. By talking about what was found.     B. By comparing with other countries.

C. By listing main events in order.        D. By giving different reasons.

15. Which of the following shows the best structure of this passage?

16. What will the writer probably discuss after the last paragraph?

A. The challenges of space travel

B. Main difficulties in building the ILRS.

C. The history of lunar exploration.
