Astronomers can tell just how hot the surface of the moon gets. The side of the moon toward the sun gets two degrees hotter than boiling water. The night side reaches 243 degrees below zero.

In a lunar eclipse the earth’s shadow falls on the moon. Then the moon’s temperature may drop 300 degrees in a very short time.

A temperature change like this cannot happen on the earth. Why does it happen on the moon? Astronomers know that the surface of the moon is dust. On the earth, the rocks store heat from the sun. When the sun goes down, the rocks stay warm. But the dust of the moon cannot store heat. So when the moon gets dark, the heat escapes quickly. The moon gets very cold.

26.Astronomers have found that the moon’s surface is ________.

A.always hotter than boiling water            B.either very hot or very cold

C.usually many degrees below zero           D.about the same as that of the earth

27.During a lunar eclipse, the moon is ________.

A.turned away from the sun                     B.in the shadow of the sun

C.in the shadow of the earth                     D.in direct sunlight

28.Temperatures on the moon change ________.

A.very quickly                                       B.by only a few degrees

C.very slowly                                         D.only when there is an eclipse

29.Temperatures on the earth change ________.

A.less than those on the moon                  B.more slowly than those on the moon

C.more quickly than those on the moon     D.Both A and B

30.The surface of the moon is ________.

A.rock that stores heat                             B.dust that stores heat

C.dust that cannot store heat                     D.rock that does not store heat

What will life in the future be like? Will it be much better than it is now?

And what will we be able to do in 10, 20 or 30 years’ time? Genetic engineering (基因工程) may help us make the perfect human. Babies may grow up to play basketball like Yao Ming or look like Cecilia Cheung. Also, we may be able to bring the dead back to life. Maybe people will be able to meet and talk with their dead family members.

Over the next 20 to 50 years, it will become harder to tell the difference between humans and machines.

Perhaps we will be able to make copies of ourselves, so we will appear to be alive long after we are dead. People may be able to find ways of putting the life of a person into a new body.

Nanobots (纳米机器人) will be important. We will use them when we are sick. For example, when we have a stomachache, we will swallow (吞下) a nanobot and it will travel through our stomach, taking a video of what’s happening there. The video will help the doctor heal (治愈) us.

In the future, computers may have their feelings. They may be able to think better than us. We may be more and more interested in computers and the internet, spending all our time in front of computers. Perhaps we will forget our real needs. Perhaps we will become super couch potatoes (电视迷) weighing 250 kg!

31.What is the main idea of the second paragraph?

A.Why we use genetic engineering.

B.How to bring the dead back to life.

C.Where genetic engineering develops.

D.What genetic engineering can help us to do.

32.It may be harder to tell the difference between humans and machines because ________.

A.humans will live longer

B.humans will live among dead people

C.humans may be able to make copies of themselves

D.humans can change their body parts into machine parts

33.We can tell from the story that nanobots can carry ________ to help doctors.

A.a computer       B.water                     C.medicine                D.a camera

34.According to the last paragraph, computers may be able to ________.

A.talk like human beings                         B.have feelings

C.talk with dead people                           D.heal sick people

35.What can we know from the end of this passage?

A.Humans may get fatter in the future.

B.The dead won’t be brought back to life.

C.We will no longer be interested in our own lives in the future.

D.We will no longer need doctors and teachers

In many science fiction (科幻) movies, men travel to faraway stars and even fight with aliens. But are there real aliens in the universe (宇宙)? The answer of some scientists is yes. So they have been searching for aliens in outer space for many years. They hope io find life signs of aliens.

Some scientists are used to using radio telescopes (望远镜) to search for aliens in space. In order to find aliens, they have worked hard for over half a century, but so far they have found nothing. Then some scientists guessed aliens might not want to connect us, but aliens could answer our messages. So some scientists sent radio signals into the universe. They hope one day they would be picked up by alien technology. These scientists want to prove (证明) that we are not alone in the universe.

But what should we do if the “alien phone” rings one day? Should we answer it? Stephen Hawking, the famous physicist, thought it could be dangerous to connect aliens. He said that the main purpose of aliens’ visiting to our solar system could be searching for our resources (资源). But other scientists think we have no need to worry. David Morrison. a NASA scientist, said, “If an alien radio signal reaches the earth from a planet thousands of light-years away, then they almost surely have solved all the problems we still have including the short of resources. Maybe they are much smarter than us, but why don’t they hurt us? I think we can try to connect them.”

About 40 years ago,    41   . The most famous recent one was made by Google in 2009. There are cameras and radars (雷达) on the top of the car.    42   . Chinese scientists have also successfully developed a self-driving car. The car made a trip from Changsha to Wuhan.

Is a self-driving car safe?   43   . If only 10% of cars on the street are self-driving, they will save 1,000 lives (生命) every year.    44   . However, a self-driving car is expensive and each costs about $100,000.    45

A.A recent study shows that robots make safer drivers than humans.

B.So it is impossible to be very popular in the near future

C.scientists from the United States started to develop self-driving cars (无人驾驶汽车).

D.If 90% of vehicles (交通工具) are self-driving, 21,700 lives will be saved a year

E.They allow the computer in the car to draw a 3D map of the environment.

so that以便,其后跟句子;in order to为了,跟动词原形;for为了;in order that为了(后面跟句子)。根据keep healthy可知,keep是动词原形,因此排除A/D;for是介词后跟动名词,所以选项C不对。故选B。
