Are you masculine (有男子气概的)? Here are some students’ ideas.

Liu Jiawei, 15

In my eyes, being masculine means having a sense of responsibility and good values.

For example, students should be responsible for their studies and never run from their problems. They should do their best to accumulate (积累) knowledge and improve their grades. They are eager to learn and hold a set of good values. On the other hand, students’ masculinity has nothing to do with their looks.

Qiu Wenjun, 14

I agree that there is a shortage of masculinity among today’s youth, especially boys. While boys seem like they’re not tough enough, on the other hand, some girls in my class are very rude and like to beat boys. The boys usually have to run and hide in the bathroom.

However, boys should have the right to protect themselves. They can be masculine by showing their courage and protecting the weak.

Zhao Zhihan, 15

China’s youth are not short on masculinity. I think being masculine means being positive, generous (慷慨的), strong, they can be considered to be masculine.

For example, I see masculinity in Chen Xiangrong, the 19-year-old soldier who fought and died in the conflict (冲突) between China and India. He performed his duty and acted bravely as a soldier.

For teenagers, masculinity is about fighting spirit. For example, if you fail an exam, you should learn from your mistakes and improve on the next one.

21.According to Liu Jiawei, masculinity doesn’t lie in people’s ________.

A.values                                                B.responsibilities

C.respecting others                                  D.physical appearance

22.Who thinks boys are sometimes less masculine than girls?

A.Liu Jiawei.    B.Qiu Wenjun.        C.Chen Xiangrong.  D.Zhao Zhihan.

23.Chen Xiangrong’s story is mentioned to call on teenagers to ________.

A.accumulate knowledge and improve their grades

B.perform their duty and act bravely

C.give up if they fail an exam

D.fight and die in a conflict

24.According to the text, which of the following can be considered as masculinity?

A.A student tries his best to study.

B.A teenager fights with others in class.

C.A man sometimes runs from his problems.

D.A boy just hides in the bathroom when he is punched by girls.

25.In which part of the magazine may you read the text?

A.Safety.          B.Education.           C.Nature.                D.Science.

What’s Anti-Bullying Day (反霸凌日)?

Anti-Bullying Day is a special day when people talk about bullying and what we can do to stop it. A lot of children take part in activities at school and online, to learn about what bullying means and what we can do if we see it happening.

When is Anti-Bullying Day?

The date of Anti-Bullying Day is different in different countries. In many places, it’s on 4 May (United Nations Anti-Bullying Day). In the UK, Anti-Bullying Week takes place every November. Every day of the year, it’s important to stand up against bullying.

What exactly is bullying?

Often bullying happens when one person has more power than the other person—perhaps they’re bigger or older, or they have more friends. When someone uses their power to hurt another person on purpose, especially more than once, that’s bullying.

Bullying can be with words (saying mean things) or it can be physical (hitting, pushing or taking someone’s things). Leaving someone out of a group or ignoring (忽视) them again and again is also bullying.

How can we stand up against bullying?

If someone is bullying you, you could ignore them, tell them to stop or walk away. Pretend that you don’t care and try to look confident, even if you don’t feel it. Tell a friend or a classmate what’s happening and ask them to help you; or talk to your parents, a teacher or another adult you trust.

If you see someone else being bullied, never join in with the bullying or laugh at it. That will make it worse. Instead, be an “upstander”—help and support the person who is being bullied. Tell a trusted adult about the bullying. If we all stand up against bullying, we can make it stop.

26.What is the main purpose of Anti-Bullying Day?

A.To remind children to be kind.

B.To organize special activities at school.

C.To discuss bullying and the prevention measures.

D.To encourage children to take part in activities online.

27.In the UK, when is Anti-Bullying Week held?

A.In November.                                   B.On May 4.           C.Each week.     D.Every day.

28.Which of the following is a form of bullying?

A.Invite someone to join a group.

B.Say unkind words to others once.

C.Hurt the other person by accident.

D.Push someone on purpose repeatedly.

29.What should you do if you see someone being bullied?

A.Stand by and do nothing.                   B.Report it to a trusted adult.

C.Walk away or ignore them.                D.Join in and support the bully.

30.What is the best title of the passage?

A.The History of Anti-Bullying Day

B.The Importance of Anti-Bullying Day

C.Anti-Bullying Day: Different Dates and Celebrations

D.Anti-Bullying Day: Raising Awareness and Taking Action.

Do you know Su Bingtian? He is a Chinese runner. He was born in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province on August 20th, 1989.

Known as China’s fastest man, Su Bingtian made history and brought an unforgettable moment to the world in the summer of 2021. On August 1, Su set a new record of 9.83 seconds at the Tokyo Olympics Men’s 100m semifinals(半决赛), which made him the first Chinese runner to enter the event’s final round.

For a long time, some people thought that Asian people were not physically built for sprinting (短跑). Su’s success shows it’s not true.

However, it was not easy for Su to succeed. Because of being hurt, Su had to stop running for several years. Later, he came back and trained even harder than before.

He realized that finishing the semifinal in less than 10 seconds would give him a chance to enter the final competition. To encourage himself, Su set a personal goal of 9.89 seconds in 2012. He even made this number his password (密码) for his phone and computer. Luckily, his efforts paid off

On March 3rd 2022, he was praised in Touching China. “I am so proud of my result. I can write my name into history now and I will work harder and run faster. I hope my performance today will encourage more people.”

根据材料内容选择最佳答案。
