These days, cars are designed using computers. Let’s look at how a new car is created.

The best two or three drawings are chosen and then more detailed drawings of 18 are developed on the computer. You can change the size, shape or color of any part on the computer to see 19 the car would look like and then you can choose the best design.
Both the inside and the outside of the car have to be designed. Part of the inside of the car is 20 so that the designers can sit in it. They can feel if there is enough 21 inside and if they can reach 22 . Then some cars are built—there are more than 15, 000 parts of a car to 23 .
When everything is known to be 24 , the cars are made in the factory. Again, computers are used to make sure that all the parts are 25 as they are needed. The factory usually stays open all through the night so that the car production never stops.

Astronauts have already visited the moon and lived on space stations. They’ve never been to another planet, but they might visit Mars soon. Astronauts will spend about six months getting to the planet, then about two years on the planet and about six months traveling back to the earth. They’ll be away from the earth for about three years, so they’ll need much food.
It’s very expensive to take food into space. It costs about 120, 000 dollars to carry something that weighs one kilo, so an apple on Mars could cost 20, 000 dollars!
Of course, they will need to take much food with them to feed the astronauts for three years. This amount of fresh food can’t stay fresh, and it is very expensive to take, so they need to find food that is not very heavy.
At the moment, astronauts in space stations eat dried food. It’s very light, so it doesn’t cost much money to carry it into space.
However, astronauts will stay healthier and happier if they eat fresh food. In the future, astronauts on Mars may grow vegetables like carrots and lettuce.
Astronauts on Mars will probably have special machines. They’ll use these machines to change beans into food that tastes like meat or cheese. They probably won’t eat real meat or cheese because it won’t be possible to keep animals in space.
26.Which planet do the astronauts plan to go to next?
A.Mars. B.Space. C.The moon. D.The sun.
27.How long will it take to get to Mars?

A.Eat only dried food. B.Grow some fresh vegetables on Mars.
C.Grow food in their spacecraft. D.Spend much money to carry food.
30.What will astronauts get from beans?
A.Apples. B.Food that tastes like meat or cheese.
C.Real meat and cheese. D.Animals.

“Tom? Are you in bed yet?” called Mrs. White. There was no answer. Mrs. White put down her book and went to her 14-year-old son’s room. Tom was sitting in front of a bright computer screen on which a motorbike was running fast.
“Oh, Tom. You’re still playing on that computer game. You must stop now, because it’s half past eleven. If you don’t go to bed soon, you’ll be very tired tomorrow.” said Mrs. White.
“But I’ve nearly won the game.” Tom said to Mrs. White. She could see the excitement on his face. She sat down beside him.
“You’re always playing on the computer. You spend more time on this machine than on your homework.”
Today more and more families have computers. Parents hope computers can help their children improve their study at school. But many of their children use computers to play games and watch videos instead of studying. We often see that computer net bars are crowded with people, especially young boys. They spend a lot of money competing (竞争) with the computerized (用计算机控制的) machines. The more they lose, the more they want to win. The result is that they don’t want to work or study.
In some countries, even scientists hate computers. They say computers cause millions of people to lose their jobs or cause them a lot of trouble. Computer game addiction (瘾) is a serious problem in social (社会的) life. Something should have to be done to solve the problem.
